A true favorite in Mount Ayr, Judge Lewis Park is the go-to spot for family fun, quiet walks, or community events. With a playground, ballparks, tennis courts, picnic areas, walking path, and plenty of green space, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a sunny afternoon or a relaxing evening stroll. In 2025 a newly constructed zero-entry pool with slides, a lazy river, water buckets, and diving boards was finalized. 

2. Poe Hollow Park & Ringgold Trailway

Just outside of town, Poe Hollow Park offers beautiful scenery, hiking and biking trails, and peaceful spots to enjoy nature. The nearby Ringgold Trailway connects you to the countryside with a scenic, tree-lined path ideal for walking, jogging, or birdwatching.

3. The Downtown Square

The historical downtown square offers many shopping options, eating places, several businesses, a bowling alley,  and a movie theater. The beautiful courthouse has a lot of history and the lawn is a great place to take in different community events and parades throughout the year. 


4. Fife’s Grove & Loch Ayr Lake

Looking for a peaceful outdoor escape? Head over to Fife’s Grove Park or Loch Ayr Lake. These quiet spots are great for fishing, kayaking, picnicking, or just enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds Mount Ayr.

5. Sun Valley Lake

Located just a short drive from Mount Ayr, Sun Valley Lake is a top destination for boating, water sports, fishing, and lakefront relaxation. With a private, resort-like feel and stunning sunset views, it's a favorite weekend retreat for locals and a highlight of southern Iowa living.
